To come in and browse our showroom, no appointment is needed. However, if you have a floor plan and want to spend time talking with one of our designers about the specifics of your project, we ask that you call ahead to make an appointment.
Before you come in for your appointment, here is a list of things we need to know:
Back wall dimensions of current kitchen/bathroom – include window and door sizes, appliance placement and don’t forget ceiling height
- Note any heat registers, gas lines, pipes/pipe chases, outlets/light switches, light fixtures, etc. that may interfere with or dictate cabinet placement
- If it is new construction, please bring in a scaled architect’s plan or rough frame dimensions
- Measure your existing appliances or obtain dimensions for your intended appliances – width, depth and height are ALL important!
- Your “wish list” – ideas about accessories, specialty cabinets, etc.
- Photos from books, magazines, and the Internet of kitchens that you love – it will help us understand what type of kitchen you want and help us re-create it
At your first appointment, we will take notes on:
- Cabinet preferences (Door style, Wood species and finish)
- Quality / Construction features
- Accessories (rollout trays, Waste baskets, Tray dividers, etc.)
- Countertop style and color
- Plumbing fixtures
- Cabinet hardware
The designer will then work on your plan and come up with a first draft based on the items discussed. Another appointment will be made to review the drawings and quotes. If time permits and the kitchen is not complex, the designer MAY choose to work on the plan while you are here – however this is not customary. Subsequent meetings will be arranged on an as needed basis until the design process is complete.
It is important to note that designing a kitchen or bathroom is a PROCESS – rarely do designers sell the first draft of a kitchen or bathroom plan. Some customers are more decisive than others, or have spent more time doing their homework and know what they want and can communicate that to a designer.
